Chinese Culture Short-Term Exchange Programs at HNU
Huaiyin Normal University actively promotes international exchanges and cooperation, receives outstanding young students from all over the world to come to the university for exchange and study, and provides characteristic experience courses of Chinese traditional culture for overseas young students participating in exchange programs. The program attaches importance to the cultivation of young people’s international communication ability. Exchange students in China interact with Chinese students, perceive the social development of contemporary China, promote mutual learning, enhance cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries.
I.Introduction to HNU
Huaiyin Normal University (HNU) is a provincial university. It is located in Huai’an City, which is a national historical and cultural city with beautiful natural scenery and with profound historical and cultural traditions. It was also the hometown of Premier Zhou Enlai. Huai’an has a history of more than 2200 years. Huai’an, Yangzhou, Suzhou and Hangzhou are also known as the four major cities along the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal. Huai’an is a new industrial city as well.
With 60 years of development, HNU has become a famous provincial university with a profound history and excellent school spirit. It has two campuses on Changjiang road and Jiaotong road, covering an area of nearly 134 hectares, and 630,000 square meters of university space. In recent years, HNU has established friendly and cooperative relations with nearly 70 universities in 15 countries (regions) ,More than 1,000 students have gone to overseas universities for exchange study, and more than 700 students with academic and non-academic degrees have come to HNU for study and cultural exchange.

Ⅴ. Curriculum
This course introduces overseas students to the form, history and culture of the guqin, perceives the ancient style of Qin dynasty through playing the guqin, and promotes the culture of the traditional national style.
By explaining the history, culture and basic patterns of paper-cutting, this course allows overseas students to experience the traditional art of paper-cutting and realize the essence of traditional culture.
This course mainly explains the production process of Huaiyang cuisine to overseas students, and appreciates Chinese food culture through on-site food cooking and tasting.
This course allows overseas students to understand the development of ancient Chinese clothing and promote Chinese Hanfu culture through immersive experience, wearing Hanfu and carrying forward Chinese Hanfu culture.
This course mainly explains the historical background and development of Chinese painting and calligraphy, and opens a calligraphy experience area for overseas students to experience the charm of traditional painting and calligraphy with one sheet of paper and one ink.
This course introduces the traditional Chinese sports culture to overseas students, and experiences the charm of Chinese martial arts by themselves.
This course provides overseas students with the opportunity to enjoy dragon and lion dance performances and experience folk activities to promote Chinese intangible cultural heritage.
This course promotes the culture of Chinese arts and crafts by presenting the production process of bandhnu. Let overseas students experience bandhnu techniques first-hand.
