2025 Application Guide for Undergraduate Programs of HNU For International Students

I. Introduction to Huaiyin Normal University（HNU）

HNU, established in 1958, is characteristic with education of teachers under Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education which is located in Huai’an, the birthplace of Zhou Enlai, the first premier of PRC and a renowned national historical and cultural city in Jiangsu Province.

There are 20 secondary colleges in HNU with more than 20,000 registered full-time students and 1200 faculty members including 200 professors, 600 doctoral teachers and 100 master and doctoral supervisors.

HNU actively promotes the academic internationalization and has established friendly and cooperative relations with more than 70 universities and research institutions from America, England, France, Finland, Italy and other 15 countries (regions) and established strategic partnership with the University of Nottingham, JAMK University of Applied Sciences, Sam Houston State University, Belarusian State Pedagogical University, Republic of Belarus and Kyung Hee University.

In recent years, more than 1,000 students have been sent to study abroad and more than 700 overseas short-term students accepted. In 2017, the school started education for international students.

III. Study Mode & Duration

The mode of study is full-time and the duration is 4 years. HNU implements a two-semester system a year, namely, the spring and autumn semesters. The autumn semester is from September to January of the following year, and the spring semester is from February to June. HNU implements the autumn enrollment. The autumn semester starts from September.

IV. Application Requirements

1. The applicant must be a non-Chinese citizen holding a valid foreign passport, abiding by Chinese laws, regulations and social customs and habits.

2. Applicants must have a high school diploma or above with good grades.

3. Applicants for Biological Technology major must have a good proficiency of English listening, speaking, reading and writing (dependent on post-enrollment test), and applicants for International Chinese Language Education major must obtain HSK Level 4 or above.

4. Applicants must be over 18 years old but not over 25 years old, physically and mentally healthy, and well behaved.

V. Application Procedure and Materials

1. Qualified students can submit relevant materials through the online application platform https://hytc.at0086.cn/StuApplication/Login.aspx  and the deadline is May 30^th.

② Passport photo;

③ Home page of the passport;

④ Studying and regular graduation certificate;

⑤ Senior middle school academic performance report;

⑥ HSK 4 or above (applicants for International Chinese Language Education major);

⑦ Medical examination report (health certificate within 6 months);

⑧ Non- Criminal Record in Chinese or English;

⑨ Proof of financial ability within 6 months (one of the following documents: proof of family savings, proof of family property, proof of parent/guardian income);

2. HNU will review the application materials and organize the interviews. Those who have passed the interview can make a deposit (RMB 2,000) before the date specified and the school will issue the Letter of Admission and JW202 Form for them.

VI. Scholarships

1. Successful applicants can apply for “Freshman Scholarship for International Students in HNU”, the amount of which is RMB 15,000 per person for Science students and RMB 11,000 per person for Liberal Art students.

2. After enrollment, students can apply for excellent student scholarship and the maximum amount per student per year shall not exceed RMB 2,000.

3. Students who have studied in school for more than one year with outstanding performance can apply for the “Jiangsu Provincial Government Scholarship”.

4. Scholarship awarded students are required to refund all the amount of scholarships they received to school if they transfer to another school for personal reasons.

Notice:

1. All application materials shall be Chinese, English text or notarized Chinese or English translation, and no other language documents shall be accepted.

2. Applicants under the age of 18 shall provide the original notarized certificate of their guardian in China in addition to the application materials above.

3. All the application materials will not be returned once submitted;

4. The right is reserved by the school to ask the applicant to submit the relevant supporting materials.

VII. Fees for Studying at HNU (RMB)

1. Tuition: 

Biological Technology: 15,000 yuan per person per year;

International International Chinese Language Education: 11,000 yuan per person per year;

2. Teaching materials: 800 yuan per person per year

3. Accommodation fee:

1,500 yuan per person per year (two-bed room);

2,000 yuan per person per year (single room);

4. Accommodation deposit: 400 yuan per person per year (returned after graduation if the items in the dormitory are intact)

5. Comprehensive medical insurance: 600 yuan per person per year (paid after registration )

6. Medical examination fee: 420 yuan per person per year (paid after registration)

7. Visa fee: 400 yuan per person per year (paid after registration)
